Bank of America Customers: Get free admission to select museums!

Whether you’re looking for some family fun, or to enjoy a little culture in your own backyard without costing  an arm and a leg, now’s your chance! On the first full weekend of every month, Bank of America customers can get free admission to participating museums, zoos, science centers and botanical gardens with their Museums on Us program!

And it couldn’t be any easier–all you have to do for the free admission is present your photo ID and any valid Bank of America/Merrill Lynch credit or debit card. To find participating venues near you and enjoy a FREE day out, check the Bank of America website.  There are now 126 participating cultural institutions nationwide. The next eligible weekend is November 6-7, 2010. And you can sign up via email to get reminders of each upcoming weekend.

Here in Ft. Lauderdale, you can visit the Museum of Discovery and Science (mainly for kids, but a fun day out for “grownup kids” too) or the Museum of Art, both located downtown. You’ll save $11.00 per adult on the MODS admission, and $9.00 per child. That can add up if you have a large family (especially when you factor in lunch and snack costs). The Museum of Art costs about $10.00 per person.

In Miami, you can visit the Miami Art Museum, Miami Children’s Museum, Miami Science Museum (admission costs $15.00 per adult and $11.00 per child) and the Museum of Contemporary Art. So even more great savings back in your wallet!

And these are excellent ways to treat an out of town friend or family member to some sightseeing!

So now you have yet another way to save big. If you’re not a Bank of America customer, I bet you have a friend who is…or simply apply for one of their credit cards, and you’ll be in like Flynn…

Snag admission to the Miami Seaquarium plus their Halloween Monster Splash for only $18.00 – today only!

Monster SplashIf you’re looking for some family fun this Halloween season, now you can check out the Miami Seaquarium and their Monster Splash for only $18.00 for kids, $24.00 for adults – 41% off of their regular prices, courtesy of Groupon.com. But you have to act fast–the deal is only on until midnight tonight! And the passes are good for October 29-31, 2010.

Here are the particulars:

  • For $24, you get one adult admission to Monster Splash(from 5-11pm,) and an all-day Seaquarium pass (a $40.60 value at the door; $38.47 online, including tax).
  • For $18, you get one child admission to Monster Splash (from 5-11pm) and an all-day Seaquarium pass (a $29.90 value at the door; $27.77 online, including tax).

The 38-acre Miami Seaquarium boasts stellar skyline views and a wide assembly of aquatic attractions. This year’s Monster Splash celebration will feature family-friendly activities including trick-or-treating, a pirate skeleton walk, and a monster-themed play area. Pint-sized haunters and diminutive demons can test their courage with a spine-tingling saunter through the Frightening Forest. Older revelers and eccentric Kevin Costner fans can ditch the water world for the Field of Screams, which features two hair-raising haunted houses. Unlimited carnival rides, spooky games, and terrifyingly delicious treats await party-goers. Rhythmic, coordinated zombie shuffling will be encouraged by the beats of an undead DJ.

You need at least three hours to see everything at the Seaquarium, so if you’re planning to stay for the Monster Splash, I’d recommend heading down there around noon, not first thing in the morning–or your crew may end up tired and cranky and not wanting to wait around in between activities (that happened to us one year when we went down for the holiday lights event).

If my daughter were older, I’d take advantage of this awesome deal. But alas, she’s just a wee tyke, and not old enough to go on the rides or partake in any games. She might enjoy watching the shows–she loves animals of all kinds–but not sure it would be worth the money or the schlep down to Miami this time. Hopefully next year…
